Architectural Decorative Arts Program

 

General Information

The traditional crafts program, under the crafts department, which is a 2-year program aims to train intermediates workers (staff) who are innovative and productive, and compatible with the developments in line with the needs of the sector, can recognize and apply materials and equipment.The program has 47 quotas for normal education and 47 quotas for evening education. Courses taught are in two groups, compulsory and elective.Architectural Decorative Arts Program is a 2-year associate degree program consisting of 120 ECTS credits for 4 semesters, 30 ECTS each semester.For the practical development of students, workshops are prepared and updated for each course available in the department.In addition to the courses, each student must complete an internship with an industry-based education covering at least 30 working days.In the related program, interns take part in the wall decoration works of buildings, palaces, mansions and mosques in accordance with the architectural plan. They can also work between painters, sculptors, ceramic artists, interior designers and restoration specialists, as well as craftsmen and workers.

Mission

The mission of the program is to train workers (staff) who research and protect Turkish Traditional values and try to keep them alive with contemporary approaches, who can produce and design their designs with an artistic perspective and evaluate all these activities with a continuous and disciplined approach.

Vision

The vision of the program is to become a respected and preferred educational and research institution at the national and international level in the field of Art and Design education with its strong vocational and technical education infrastructure.

 

Purposes and Goals

The aim of the program is to educate graduates who have design and drawing skills, can perceive the details between the shapes, have visual acuity, can coordinate the eyes and hands, and can use the hands and fingers skillfully.

 

Program Opportunities

There are plaster lathes, mixer, and ceramic ovens in our department's workshops. It is possible to make practical lessons with the help of the necessary tools and devices.

 

Employment Opportunities

Architectural Decorative Arts Technicians can work in  Ministry of Culture, General Directorate of Foundations, General Directorate of National Palaces, Municipalities, Special Provincial Administrations.In addition to the modern plastic art education they receive in practice, they can work in private organizations and offices related to the Study Project areas. Since they take the subjects such as Turkish Architecture, Decoration, Restoration, Landscape, Ceramics, Computerized Design, they can serve in these areas either in their own workplaces and workshops either as intermediate staff or independently.

 

Higher Education Opportunities

 

Students who graduate from the program have the opportunity to continue to higher education.Graduates who enter DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) can complete a higher education by registering to the departments listed below if they get enough points.
