MEDICINAL AND AROMATIC PLANTS

General Information

In Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program, technical personnel are trained to know the general characteristics of medicinal and aromatic plants that have economic value in the food, medicine, cosmetics and paint industries. Graduated students will have gained required expertise in the subjects such as medicinal and aromatic plants systematics, their conversion to products, and determination of their biological and chemical properties.

The education period in the program is 2 years. Students graduate with 120 ECTS credits at the end of 2 years. Cultural, vocational, theoretical and applied courses are grouped as compulsory and elective.

To have an impact in education with environmentally oriented, sufficient technical knowledge and skills that required by vocational and technical education of qualified human resource.

To train highly qualified, adapted to team work, self-confident individuals that required for development of the industry.

Purpose

To carry out environmentally sensitive, qualified education and training activities that will meet the needs of sectors related to medicinal and aromatic plants.

Objective

To train technical staff among students who can make applications that can bring medicinal and aromatic plants to the economy.

In this program, besides modern theoretical education and training tools, there is also agriculture field that enables required applications.

Program Profile

The program includes the basic principles of the production of medicinal and aromatic plants and the technical substructure that enables the theoretical and practical demonstration of the production processes.

Employment opportunities

Graduate students can work in companies that import and export medicinal and aromatic plants, laboratories producing herbal medicine, sectors engaged in the cultivation or gathering of these plants, relevant institutions within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, perfume and cosmetics industry, as well as herbarium and plant laboratories located in the relevant departments of universities.

Students who successfully complete their education can transfer to the related departments within the quotas with the exam (DGS), which is held by ÖSYM.
