The International Association of Midwives (ICM) defines a midwife as an independent and responsible health professional who works to protect and improve the health and well-being of women, children and their families. Midwives provide care across a spectrum of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and women's health. Midwives also take on a leadership and advocacy role that promotes evidence-based practice and helps women make their own choices.
Our country's Midwives Association defines a midwife as a person who is registered or legally permitted to practice the profession after being eligible to enter a midwifery education program and successfully completing this program. Midwives have important responsibilities in pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care, in areas related to reproductive health and in protecting and improving public health.

Graduation Requirements: The midwifery undergraduate diploma is given to students who complete all eight semesters of courses in accordance with the "Midwifery Department Course Program". Students must complete 240 ECTS credits in order to receive a bachelor's degree.
