Chemistry is a science that examines and explains all kinds of interactions, changes and transformations of matter and energy. Chemistry, which allows us to better understand matter, our world and the universe, will continue to be one of the most important branches of science in the future as well as today. The primary aim of the Department of Chemistry is to convey the basic concepts of chemistry, its main applications and its interaction with other sciences.
In this context, the Department of Chemistry, which aims to train qualified, conscious and well-equipped chemists that our country will need, started its activities in 2008 within the Kamil Özdağ Faculty of Science.

In our department consisting of 6 departments; There are a total of 9 faculty members, 4 professors, 3 associate professors and 2 assistant professor. The undergraduate education period in the Department of Chemistry, whose medium of instruction is Turkish, is four years. Students who are placed in the undergraduate program have the right to study English preparatory education for one year upon their request. Students who successfully complete the Department of Chemistry graduate with the title of “Chemist”. Graduates have employment opportunities in many fields such as academic institutions, scientific research centers, hospitals, environmental and food analysis laboratories as well as plastics, pharmaceutical, paint, textile and ceramic industries. Undergraduate education in the department is carried out with laboratory studies as well as theoretical courses. In addition to undergraduate education, master's and doctoral education is also given within the Institute of Science and Technology.
