Orhun Exchange Program

Purpose of the Program

The Orhun Exchange Program is conducted to strengthen cooperation in higher education among Turkic States, to promote shared cultural values, and to encourage academic mobility. Through this program, both KMU students and academic staff have the opportunity to gain valuable international experience.


🧑‍🎓 For Students

  • Eligibility
    Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students may apply. There is no restriction on academic field; however, the chosen host university must offer a related program.

  • Duration
    Minimum of one semester, maximum of two semesters (not exceeding one academic year in total).

  • Enrollment and Tuition

    • Students remain enrolled at KMU during the exchange period.
    • Tuition fees/semester contributions must be paid to KMU; no additional tuition is charged by the host university.
    • Freezing of enrollment is not allowed.
  • Financial Conditions

    • Sending institution (KMU): Covers transportation expenses.
    • Host institution: Provides accommodation and meals.
    • Existing scholarships or loans continue during the exchange (if applicable).
  • Academic Recognition
    Courses successfully completed at the host institution will be recognized by KMU according to the pre-approved Learning Agreement.

  • Required Documents
    Application form, student certificate, transcript, passport/ID, Learning Agreement, motivation letter.


👩‍🏫 For Academic Staff

  • Eligibility
    Full-time academic staff members at KMU are eligible to participate.
    Administrative staff are not included in this program.

  • Duration
    A minimum of one week up to one semester, depending on the host university’s conditions.

  • Purpose and Activities

    • Teaching courses, giving lectures or seminars.
    • Participating in joint academic events.
    • Developing collaborative research projects.
  • Financial Support

    • Sending institution (KMU): Covers transportation expenses.
    • Host institution: Provides accommodation and meals.
    • Academic contribution (lecturing, seminars, etc.) is expected during the exchange.
  • Application Process

    1. Follow the official calls and announcements by the Internationalization Office.
    2. Submit the application form with required documents (CV, teaching/seminar plan, invitation letter, etc.).
    3. Accepted candidates will be officially notified after the evaluation process.

📌 Important Notes

  • Application deadlines, procedures, and quotas are announced annually by the KMU Internationalization Office.
  • Administrative staff are not eligible for the Orhun Exchange Program.
  • Visa, residence permit, insurance, and additional expenses are the responsibility of the participant.
