EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM
Early Childhood Education Program aims to train qualified early childhood teachers through its undergraduate program. The language of instruction is Turkish. Early Childhood Education Program is a four-year program following the national curriculum which was established according to the Turkish Higher Education Competencies Framework of Turkish Council of Higher Education. In addition to the core courses on child development care and education, the program also offers professional (teacher education) and general education courses.
The aims of Early Childhood Education Program are to train early childhood educators who : can utilize the latest developments in the field; believe democratic values; are a defender of human/children rights; value personal differences; think critically and flexible; can express her/himself freely; are creative, intuitive and self-reflecting; believe in life-long learning; open to international, inter-discipline collaboration; can effectively utilize information technologies; respectful to the social and ecological environment she/he is living in.
Program graduates may be employed as a teacher at state and private child care facilities, state school kindergarten classrooms (all supervised by the Turkish Ministry of National Education) and other child care facilities (Crèches and Preschools) governed by state and private organizations.
Qualification Awarded: Bachelor's Degree
Provisions for Registration: Candidates who want to be admitted to the Early Childhood Education program must have a valid secondary education degree (or equivalent approved by the Council of Higher Education) and attain a certain score on the Student Selection Test Type-5 (The passing score may change every year and determined by many factors such as the number of candidates applying for the program).
