(Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University Associate and Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Examination Regulations - Article 13: Registration Freezing)
ARTICLE 13 - (Amended: RG-29/08/2025-33001) (1) A student may freeze their registration for a maximum of two semesters at a time and a maximum of four semesters in total during the duration of their studies, based on a justified and valid excuse, by the decision of the relevant unit's administrative board. The period during which their registration is frozen will not be counted towards the maximum period of study. The excuses of students who request a freeze due to their illness or ongoing treatment, or of convicted students, will be evaluated by the relevant unit's administrative board, and their registration may be frozen for more than four semesters without being counted towards the maximum period of study. A student whose registration is frozen cannot continue their education during these periods and cannot benefit from student rights. (2) Freezing their registration is carried out as follows: a) For compulsory preparatory classes and programs with annual education, this period is determined as one year (two semesters). b) A request to freeze registration must be submitted by the student to the relevant unit within the first two weeks of the academic year (for newly enrolled students, within four weeks of their registration at the University) and will be reviewed by the unit's administrative board. However, if health problems, convictions, or military service deferments arise after the application period for freezing registration has passed, the time limitation will not apply. In these cases, course registrations and any exam grades for the relevant semester/year will be canceled. c) Students who have completed the maximum duration of study cannot request to freeze registration. ç) Students temporarily enrolled at the university cannot request to freeze registration until final registration is completed. d) Students whose excuse expires during the freezing registration period must apply to the relevant academic unit to continue their education. The application will be reviewed by the relevant unit's administrative board.
