A panel titled “Karaman in Terms of History, Culture, and Tourism,” organized by the Karamanogullari Culture and Civilization Application and Research Center operating within our university, was held with the participation of academics and students.
The panel took place on April 7, 2026, at 14:00 in the Faculty of Literature Conference Hall and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Mercan, a faculty member of our department. During the panel, Karaman’s historical background, cultural heritage, and tourism potential were discussed from various perspectives. In addition to Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kurt, another faculty member of our department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seda Dilay and Lecturer Meral İş also participated as speakers. The speakers evaluated Karaman’s historical development from past to present and shared important insights on preserving the city’s cultural values and promoting them for tourism.
The panel particularly emphasized Karaman’s place in the history of Anatolia, the legacy of the Karamanids, and the region’s tourism potential. Following the presentations, participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers during the Q&A session. The panel, which attracted academic and cultural interest, was considered a significant event in terms of contributing to the promotion of Karaman and enhancing students’ knowledge in the field.
