Our department students carried the Ottoman Urban History course beyond the classroom and conducted it as an applied lesson at Seki Çeşme Hamam, one of Karaman’s important historical structures. The course, attended by third-year students of the History Department, was carried out under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Kübra Dursun. Within the scope of the lesson, students had the opportunity to examine Ottoman urban life, bathhouse culture, and the architectural features of historical buildings on site.

During the applied lesson held at Seki Çeşme Hamam, which holds an important place in Karaman’s cultural heritage, students evaluated the historical background, architectural characteristics, and role of the structure in Ottoman urban life. Throughout the lesson, students delivered presentations and shared information about the historical development of the bathhouse and its place in social life. By examining both the interior and exterior sections of the bathhouse in detail, students were able to observe in practice the theoretical knowledge covered in class. Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that, during the Ottoman period, bathhouses served not only as places of hygiene but also as important centers of social life. In addition, discussions were held on Ottoman urbanism, the functions of historical structures, and the importance of preserving cultural heritage. At the end of the lesson, students examined different sections of the historical structure and took observation notes.

It was stated that the applied lesson was highly productive for the students and that examining historical structures on site made a significant contribution to the learning process. History Department students also expressed that closely exploring the historical and cultural values of Karaman was an important experience for them. The event also attracted attention in the local media and was featured on kgrthaber as well as in the local newspaper Karaman'ın Sesi.
