WHO IS THE ENERGY MANAGER?
The energy manager defines the person who is responsible for carrying out energy management activities in industrial enterprises and buildings and who has energy manager or training-study-project certificate.
In accordance with the Energy Efficiency Law No. 5627, which entered into force by being published in the Official Gazette dated 2 May 2007 and numbered 26510, and the Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency in the Use of Energy Sources dated 25 October 2008, no. Institutions, Establishments and Enterprises;
Industrial Facilities;
· To assign energy manager in enterprises with annual energy consumption of 1,000 Tons Equivalent Oil (TEP) and above,
· Establish an energy management unit under the responsibility of energy manager in enterprises with 50.000 TEP and above,
Non-residential buildings;
· Assigning energy managers in commercial buildings with a total construction area of at least 20.000 m 2 or annual energy consumption of 500 TEP,
· Appoint energy manager in public buildings with a total construction area of at least 10.000 m 2 or annual total energy consumption of 250 TEP and above,
· Establishing an energy management unit in the industrial zones (OIZ) to provide services to enterprises with annual energy consumption below 1,000 TEP,
· Power plants with installed capacity of 100 MW or more have to assign energy managers.

What are the duties of the Energy Manager (EY)?
On 27 October 2011, the duties of the energy manager in the regulation on increasing efficiency in the use of Energy Resources and Energy are listed below:
a) To identify and promote measures and procedures for the improvement of consumption habits and prevention of waste, and to organize training programs where necessary,
b) To identify and coordinate the implementation of modifications on energy-consuming systems, processes or equipment,
c) To conduct market researches on the preparation and implementation of energy studies and VAPs, to prepare agreements and to check the implementation,
ç) To monitor the efficiency of energy consuming equipment, to coordinate the timely maintenance and calibration of the equipment,
d) To prepare and submit to the top management the energy needs and efficiency-enhancing practices plans, budget needs, cost and benefit analyzes,
e) To monitor and evaluate energy consumption and costs and to produce periodic reports,
f) To take steps to ensure the supply and installation of meters and measuring devices needed to monitor energy consumption,
g) To monitor specific energy consumption, product production and energy consumption, energy costs and energy intensity of industrial enterprises and to prepare suggestions to improve them,
h) To investigate the possibilities related to changing the energy composition and the use of alternative fuels, to prepare the measures to protect the environment, to reduce the emissions and not to exceed the limit values and to coordinate their implementation,
i) To prepare alternative plans to reduce the use of petroleum and natural gas in case of energy supply interruption and if requested by the General Directorate,
j) To prepare the necessary information to be submitted to the Directorate General by the end of March every year within the scope of the Law and to submit it to the management to be sent to the General Directorate,
