Department of Architecture and Urban Planning Map and Cadastre Program
General Information
The Mapping and Cadastral program is based on the measurement and production of maps of all scales required by the country, applications related to cadastral and zoning maps, surveying and applications of projects such as roads, bridges, dams, tunnels. Graduates will have sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge to enable them to work in the public or private sector as map cadastral technicians. The main objective of the program is to train “Map and Cadastral Technician” who is competent in mapping, surveying and calculation projects and applications, land registry and cadastral operations information systems, zoning activities, urban transformation applications, which are the infrastructure of engineering structures needed by the society with rapidly developing technology and increasing population.
The Map and Cadastre program has 30 quota. Courses are in two groups, compulsory and elective. The Mapping and Cadastre program is a 2-year associate degree program consisting of 4 semesters of 30 ECTS credits each semester, a total of 120 ECTS credits. Students of the Mapping and Cadastre program are given practical and theoretical courses during the 14-week course period. In addition to the courses, each student must complete internship training for at least 30 working days in public and private organizations.

Objective
To train “Mapping and Cadastral Technicians” who can meet the demands of public institutions and the private sector related to cartography, who are self-confident, who have gained professional knowledge and skills, who can follow technological developments, who understand the spirit of teamwork, who can express themselves verbally and in writing, who can communicate, who can carry out their work within the framework of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Target
The aim of the program is to train technical staff specialized in land surveying, evaluation and location determination, information system establishment and querying, application of location information, evaluation of legal and technical information related to immovable property ownership, which are needed by the public and private sectors by using advanced technologies. It is aimed to train graduates of Mapping and Cadastre as individuals who have sufficient professional knowledge, who can continuously improve themselves in line with technological developments, who have high application skills, and who benefit their country professionally.
Program Facilities
During the education period, field applications of associate degree courses will be carried out in the field environment and computer-aided applications will be carried out in the computer laboratories of the Vocational School of Technical Sciences. In order to encourage students to practical applications, studies can be carried out by establishing project teams.
Program Profile
Mapping and cadastral technicians, who create and apply the map and map information of engineering projects, have critical tasks in all public works projects, especially in urban and rural areas. Information technologies such as Geographic Information Systems, Global Positioning, Remote Sensing, which have become prominent especially in recent years, constitute the fields of duty of map technicians. The department aims to train technical staff specialized in land and industrial surveying, evaluation and location determination, information system establishment and querying, application of location information, evaluation of legal and technical information related to immovable property ownership, which are needed by the public and private sectors by using modern technologies in every period.

With the title of technician, our graduates work in public and private institutions operating on the creation of horizontal and vertical control networks that will form the basis for professional activities, road, railway, bridge, dam, pipeline, metro, tunnel projects and their application to the land, location determination using satellites, creation of spatial databases and geographic information systems on various subjects, urban and rural area regulations and related legal studies, zoning applications, cadastral studies, expropriation, real estate (real estate) valuation. Further Education Opportunities
Students who graduate from the program have the opportunity to continue their education to a higher level. Those who successfully complete the Mapping and Cadastre program can continue their undergraduate programs in Surveying Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Geology Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, and Environmental Engineering at relevant universities if they pass the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) opened by ÖSYM. In addition, all graduates have the opportunity to continue their education in the Open Education Faculty, Departments of Economics or Business Administration from the third year and complete their undergraduate degree.
