Turkish Language Teaching

The Faculty of Education Turkish Education Department was opened in 2018. There are 3 faculty members in the department. It will take its first students in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Turkish Language Teaching Department executes a program that aims to train effective Turkish language teachers. The program includes both compulsory and elective courses related with teaching profession, methods of teaching Turkish, literature and culture. Thus, the department aims to educate graduates who are able to identify and solve the problems of Turkish language teaching and work in the multi-disciplinary fields with their Turkish language knowledge and skills.

The graduates are appointed as Turkish teachers by Ministry of National Education (MEB) providing that they get the required score in Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS). In addition, they have other alternatives such as working as Turkish teachers at private teaching institutions. Upon a successful completion of the program, the students may continue with master and doctoral studies, provided that they get a required score in Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam (ALES) and a sufficient level of English language proficiency.

Our department; It continues its educational activities with 3 assistant professors. Some courses, particularly educational science courses, are carried out by faculty members from outside the department. Our department will carry out its educational activities in the classrooms in the new building of the Faculty of Education.
