ARABIC TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION PROGRAM / PROGRAM OUTCOMES

PO-1: Understands and analyzes the grammatical structures of Arabic and Turkish; constructs sentences and produces texts in these languages.

PO-2: Gains speaking and writing skills in Arabic at least at the B2 level.

PO-3: Possesses knowledge of translation techniques and methods; utilizes these techniques and methods in text analysis and text production.

PO-4: Possesses accumulated knowledge about general Arab culture and dialects.

PO-5: Masters translation concepts and theories; performs written and oral translation in Arabic-Turkish and Turkish-Arabic language pairs.

PO-6: Makes decisions suitable for the context of the text and the translation situation during the translation process.

PO-7: Utilizes translation methods, theories, techniques, and strategies during the translation process.

PO-8: Considers the translation brief, client demands, and translation ethics during the translation process and takes initiative accordingly.

PO-9: Masters at least two foreign languages other than Arabic at the C2 level.

PO-10: Masters the terminology of Arabic texts in different fields; uses information technologies and Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) technologies.

PO-11: Possesses knowledge about modern and classical Arabic literature and authors, and has the competence to utilize them in the translation process.

PO-12: Possesses a critical and analytical perspective within the context of translation.

PO-13: Performs translation criticism through different text types.

PO-14: Possesses knowledge about the history of Arabic translation.

PO-15: Gains the ability to work individually and in groups and uses this ability throughout life.

PO-16: Graduates as an equipped and competent translator/interpreter. Works as a translator and interpreter in the sector.

 

GERMAN TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION PROGRAM / PROGRAM OUTCOMES

PO-1: Masters course materials containing up-to-date information based on competencies gained in the field of translation, and advanced theoretical knowledge supported by various sources.

PO-2: Possesses the ability to comprehend and interpret the system, process, product, and equipment within the scope of the translation field; solves related problems and applies new methods.

PO-3: Possesses the capability to conduct research, produce and manage projects, collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, analyze inferences, categorize, process, and interpret texts in the field of translation.

PO-4: Possesses knowledge and communication skills in interdisciplinary subjects within the field of humanities.

PO-5: Uses theoretical and practical knowledge gained in the field of translation in education, research and development, and community service areas with professional ethics and a sense of responsibility; proposes and implements solutions.

PO-6: Identifies, defines, and formulates problems in the field of translation; possesses the ability to solve these problems and the capacity to select and apply appropriate analysis and modeling methods for this purpose.

PO-7: Possesses the ability to work effectively both individually and as a team.

PO-8: Possesses the consciousness of lifelong learning, the ability to access information, follow developments in science and technology, and the capacity for critical observation and evaluation.

PO-9: Uses computer software relevant to the field of translation, as well as information and communication technologies, at an intermediate-advanced level.

PO-10: Possesses effective oral and written communication skills in Turkish and masters at least three foreign languages (one of German, English, and Russian/French/Arabic/Chinese/Persian).

PO-11: Capable of expressing feelings and thoughts orally or in writing using English and a third foreign language, in addition to Turkish and German (at least at the European Language Portfolio “A2” level).

PO-12: Supports the universal validity of historical, social, cultural, and individual rights in the field of translation; possesses consciousness regarding history, cultural heritage, and social justice.

PO-13: Possesses sufficient awareness and knowledge regarding the societal and universal effects of field applications (environmental factors, economy, sustainability, innovation, expansion, etc.) and their legal consequences.

PO-14: Graduates as an equipped and competent translator/interpreter. Works as a translator and interpreter in the sector.
