Our research has proved that there were extremely limited care home patient monitoring software (usable in PC, tablet and mobile phones) in Turkish and many EU care homes and there is a strong need for such a system. This output was about creating a care home patient monitoring software (usable in PC, tablet and mobile phones) which will significantly help us to reach our objectives. In this output, our ICT experts and care home professionals worked together to create this innovative software. The element of innovation was to create this software, develop its contexts and coding, and service it to the all care homes in Turkey and partnering EU countries for free.
Our expected impacts were to develop care home staff’s professional skills in dealing with elderly people’s health related needs by using our new developed software. The adult educators (care home staff) would have a software to monitor blood pressure, blood sugar rate, sleeping hours, falls, alarms, medicine hours, cleaning periods, eating, specific food requirements, exercises and many more.
Elderly people would benefit from this software where they will have better services on time, more effective and professional.
Care home managements would easily monitor each care home patient by following their individual data where this will enable them to provide better management services.
Health sector authorities would have individual data of care home patients and will easily monitor their wellbeing and health related issues, which would help them to provide better services in local, regional and national levels.
IT experts also benefited from this software where they will work for coding, design and development of this output and this will increase their ICT knowledge, experiences and expertise.
In terms of transferability, this software played an important role where it will be user-friendly, easy to navigate and use and created with open source format. Therefore, it is transferrable into many contexts and languages where open source format can be adopted into different new formats based on needs. We also created this software in English and Turkish where large number of people and institutions will benefit. Also, we paid special attention to this software’s security issues where none of the individual data will be shared with anyone, rather, we will make sure that this program will work securely for each user by creating user profiles with passwords. So that there will not be any common area to share any data, rather, each user will reach the data that they have put into this software. This will make its transferability wider and secure.
