ENHANCING THE DEMAND-DRIVEN YOUTH EMPLOYMENT IN IT SECTORS

LTT 1 / Turkey (Karamanoglu Mehmetbey University)

The main purpose of this LTT is to provide collaborative learning and exchange of ideas among participants through various activities.

 

Initially, this event was planned to be held in Italy. However, the first organization of our partners by the Coordinator was held in Karaman, considering that it would be better for the promotion of the project. According to this organization, the participant profile;

 

There were talented young people between the ages of 18-25, undergraduate and graduate graduates, who were interested in informatics.

We invited youth workers and researchers who actively work and serve in youth fields, and all talented young people who are interested in informatics.

Talented and professional IT professionals and recruiters (HR) are also invited to this event.

The aims are to organize a variety of collaborative learning activities and to exchange information between participants designed in non-formal and partly formal learning formats.

 

 
 
-Study visits/field trips to IT businesses, Since Karaman is a small city, officials from IT businesses in the surrounding provinces of Istanbul, Mersin, Konya, Ankara and Adana were invited to the LTT event to give seminars. All participants were allowed to interview these business owners for 3 days. Participants of our partners had informal conversations with each other to discuss the needs of the industry and the issues that young people are lacking. Afterwards, Innopark companies in Konya were visited and on-site inspections were made. They learned the needs of these IT companies and the special qualifications they took into account. All of these have been reported by our youth. During these visits, our young people experienced individual and group learning activities, workshops/trainings, interaction/participation activities, role playing.

 


 

The results of the activities;

-Study visits/site trips to IT businesses have allowed IT youth to get short introductions and detailed courses from IT professionals in these businesses to observe IT services, qualifications, infrastructure, materials, tools, staff skills.

-Individual and group learning activities enabled IT youth to learn about their individual interests, individual questions, inquiries and various IT topics they wanted to learn. It also helped them develop their teamwork skills.

-To our young participants, academicians and informatics business experts in our country invited by Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University during the Workshop/Training, about which subjects are important in youth employment in our country, what are the practical information about the realities and numerical values ​​of youth employment, what are the disadvantages and which fields are most needed. they gave information.


-Through role-playing, young people were able to imagine themselves as IT business owners/professionals and their IT skills in IT businesses allowed them to form an idea of ​​what to do in this scenario for youth employment. Thus, in non-formal forms of learning, ideas, dreams, thoughts, etc. Safe spaces are provided for expression.


 

This LTT took place on a 5 day schedule where we followed a specific time and activity schedule as follows;

 

Day 1: Breaking the Ice continued with the presentation of each partner and participant, the presentation of 3 company owners and a question and answer session.

Day 2: Workshops/Trainings Presentations of 2 company owners were made and the opportunity to chat was provided. Afterwards, Interaction/Interaction activities were carried out.

Day 3: After the presentations of 1 academician and 2 company owners, individual and group learning activities were held.

Day 4: Study visits/field trips were made to the IT companies in Konya İnnopark and a presentation was received from 3 company owners, including their experiences.

Day 5: Role Playing and Evaluation of Activities. 3 company owners that we invited in Konya İnnopark made presentations and company visits continued.
