ENHANCING THE DEMAND-DRIVEN YOUTH EMPLOYMENT IN IT SECTORS

LTT 3 / Malta (Vismednet Association)

The main objectives of this LTT were to provide structured and non-formal trainings in the fields of IT, various collaborative learning activities among IT professionals and youth, as described below. This LTT3 was scheduled to take place in Malta in the proposal, and as stated.

 

Participant profile:

Young people aged 18-25, interested and talented in informatics

-Youth workers actively working and providing services in youth fields,

- (HR) professionals working for companies to recruit IT talent.

The results of this LTT;

-one. Day 1: An introductory meeting was held where the program and tasks were explained. It was a very rapid ice breaking activity.

-Study visit to an IT company called “Betsson Group” (www.betssongroup.com), one of the largest i-gaming companies in Europe and employs around 2,000 people in 13 main locations

During the Betsson group company visit, the company's 9 different IT departments presented their work in a 6-hour presentation and discussion format.

-In this event, the participants learned how a real workplace works for IT staff, what are the rules and teamwork in the company, what are the workplace-specific rules, and how the communication between the employees takes place.

 

-2. Day 1: Study visit to Heritage Malta: Heritage Malta visit: This institution is responsible for preserving the historical and cultural heritage in Malta, facilitating the visit and equipping it with IT facilities. Responsible for more than 90 museums and historical heritage sites.

-Heritage Malta executives showed us how IT operations are integrated into Historical and Cultural Heritage Sites and Museums. They talked about what should be considered in the renovation of the Malta Museum in Valletta, in order to place the CCTV cameras and other IT products in a museum. They talked about the difficult aspects of the technology developing in historical buildings. Informatics experts showed us what kind of informatics tools they use to protect the data and information of heritages (picture, picture, calligraphy, etc.).

Day 3: Workshop/Training on the importance of having “appearance skills” on online platforms for IT youth to present their various job opportunities, skills and qualifications in the best possible formats. Participants learned what “appearance” means instead of a resume, how to create a short and effective personal perspective on online platforms, and how to present skills and competencies.

 

Day 4: Professor of applied artificial intelligence and head of artificial intelligence at the University of Malta, Prof. Workshop/Training by Alexiei Dingli.

The workshop/training covered the implementation of AI interventions in various IT sectors, deep learning, deep belief networks, autocoders and more IT topics. This has helped to increase the technical skills of young people in the IT sectors, how deep technical knowledge will help them to be employed in certain positions, how they can build more careers in AI fields with significant career opportunities in the future.

 

-Study visit to Gaming Malta Foundation, an IT company (www.gamingmalta.org) and foundation for developing and creating various online games, also collaborating with new talent, startups and businesses to guide them through their careers in gaming. Here, the chief manager and IT operations department employees informed the participants about how the online gaming industry works, facts and figures, the real working environment in game labs, how games are created in game labs, how an IT staff works. game development, what skills are expected from young IT workers?

 

 

Day 5: Professor of applied artificial intelligence and head of artificial intelligence at the University of Malta, Prof. Workshop/Training by Alexiei Dingli.

The workshop/training covered what are the top 20 job areas in IT industries that are increasing or decreasing with demand, providing real/latest data, facts and figures, statistics and more.

In addition, the trainer provided important career counseling/support to young people by asking each participant about their career plans and possible future.

-The program presents the participants' learnings, ideas for possible future careers and collaborations, exchange networks, etc. He concluded by discussing the program he outlined, the evaluations, questions and answers.(Betsson)
