HISTORY-INTRODUCTION

 

According to the additional article 30 of the Law No. 2809 dated 28/3/1983 and dated 4/12/2018 and the approval of the Presidency, it was decided to establish the “Faculty of Dentistry” affiliated to the Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University Rectorate. This Presidency Decree was published in the Official Gazette dated 5/12/2018 and numbered 30616 and entered into force.

 

A protocol for the construction and donation of the faculty building was signed between our University and the Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu Foundation on 19/3/2019.

According to the said protocol; the name of our faculty was changed to “Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Dentistry” with the second article of the Decision No. 967 dated 17/4/2019 of the Presidency. This Presidential Decree was published in the Official Gazette dated 18/4/2019 and numbered 30749 and entered into force.

 

The construction works and operations of our faculty building were started by the Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu Foundation as of 10/5/2019 and delivered on 15/10/2020. The Building Usage Permit was approved by the Karaman Municipality on 21/10/2020.

 

The Oral and Dental Health Center Preliminary Permit was given by the Ministry of Health (General Directorate of Health Services) on 14/9/2020.

 

Within the scope of the provisions of the "Public Health Facilities Licensing Regulation" published in the Official Gazette dated 20/9/2019 and numbered 30894, our health facility was licensed with an activity permit by the Ministry of Health (General Directorate of Health Services) on 17/6/2021.

 

A "Health Services Protocol" has been signed with the Social Security Institution (SGK) as of 01/08/2021.

 

Our faculty consists of a total of 12,000 m2 (basement + ground floor + 3 floors) closed area, 9 clinics and 116 units.

 

Our faculty includes the departments of Clinical Sciences (Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery; Prosthetic Dentistry; Orthodontics; Pediatric Dentistry; Endodontics; Periodontics; Dental Diseases and Treatment and Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology) and Basic Sciences (Basic Sciences Department).

 

Our faculty started education with a total of 63 students, 60 students, 2 school top quotas and 1 additional quota, as of the 2020-2021 academic year.

 

62 students joined us in the 2021-2022 academic year, 73 students in the 2022-2023 academic year, 72 students in the 2023-2024 academic year, and 73 students in the 2024-2025 academic year.
