Periodontal diseases are chronic bacterial infections that affect the gums and the bone that supports the teeth. If left untreated, they lead to tooth loss. Gum diseases are one of the most common causes of tooth loss in our age. In the periodontics department, all types of gum diseases are treated with classical and surgical methods. Apart from these treatments, augmentation procedures, intra-bone implant applications, and corrective operations related to soft tissue are applied in patients with tooth and tooth-surrounding support tissue loss in periodontics.
Our department serves with 1 Assistant Professor. The Periodontics Department contributes to the 5-year dentistry education with theoretical and practical applications in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. In the future, it is planned to open postgraduate doctoral programs and provide training to specialist students within the scope of Specialization training in Dentistry.
